Jean Robinson RI

“My paintings are intuitive rather than literal and emerge from remembered images, patterns and shapes, with colour often being the starting point. I paint mainly in a semi-abstract way, using acrylics, inks, watercolours and a variety of collage materials. Brushes, palette knives, pens and cards are used on paper, board or canvas. I try to use mixed media, colour, texture and composition to achieve multi-layered and atmospheric paintings. Music in many forms inspire me when I’m painting, especially rock and jazz. The rhythms influence my brushstrokes and mood and often the result of the picture. Imagination and memory combine to create landscapes, townscapes, seascapes and abstract patterns.”
