Julian Murray

A London based painter and sculptor with roots in West Cornwall, Julian sculpts mainly in wood, stone and bronze. After a career in industry, he studied first portraiture, then sculpture, at the Heatherleys School of Art, Chelsea.

His work is figurative, highly tactile and tends more and more to the abstract. His main inspiration is the female form and the expression of mood and emotion through the chosen medium.

His work has been exhibited at the Heatherley’s School of Art, where it was commended by a critic for its prescience and at the Chelsea Art Society – where, in 2009 it won The Jackson Sculpture Prize.
